The iconic Horsehead Nebula was imaged in
infrared wavelengths to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the launch of
the Hubble Space Telescope aboard the Discovery shuttle on April 24,
1990. The Nebula, also known as Barnard 33, is part of the
Orion Molecular Cloud and is about 1,500 light-years away from Earth.
Astronomers estimate the formation has about 5 million years left before
it disintegrates.
