A Seychelles freshwater turtle

A Seychelles freshwater turtle species declared extinct after decades of searching, never existed, scientists have determined. While humans have helped wipe out several turtle and tortoise species, DNA evidence shows that Pelusios seychellensis is not one of them - it's actually the same species as a widespread West African turtle.
