Researchers have 3D printed a minute
functioning liver. The tiny organ (0.5 mm thick and 4 mm wide)
replicates key processes of the liver, such as producing albumin and a
fat-carrying cholesterol. The system will change the way laboratory tests
and medical research is conducted, and could eventually produce 3D
livers for transplants. In the image: a cross-section of the 3D
